History of the Cruces de Mayo in Córdoba

The Cruces de Mayo in Córdoba have been documented since the 17th century, linked to the Finding of the Holy Cross (3 May). In the 1950s the City Council formalised the contest as it is known today. Alongside the Patios and the Feria, it is one of the three pillars of Mayo Cordobés. In recent years the festival has expanded to modern neighbourhoods with crosses organised by local associations.
